Wilson Bela V3 Padel Racket Review
Share
Introduction
The Wilson Bela V3 is the latest iteration in Wilson’s flagship padel line developed in collaboration with the legendary Fernando Belasteguin. Known for its competitive edge and aggressive style, the Bela line has built a strong reputation among intermediate and advanced players, and the V3 continues that legacy with a few welcome changes.
This new version flips the aesthetic of the previous V2.5, now sporting a striking black face with a bold red Wilson “W” logo. The textured surface adds both visual flair and functional grip. The Bela V3 is available in three versions: standard, LT (Light), and Pro — this review focuses on the regular version.
Wilson markets the Bela V3 as its most versatile racquet, promising a balance of power, control, and spin for both offensive and defensive styles. But does it live up to the hype? Let’s break it down.
Design & Build Quality
The teardrop shape of the Bela V3 plays a major role in its all-around capabilities. It’s designed to strike a balance between power and control, though it leans more toward the power side due to its head-heavy balance.
The racquet uses a 3K carbon fiber face combined with a Power Foam core, resulting in a firm, explosive feel. At around 365g (give or take 10g), it feels weighty in hand but remains maneuverable thanks to its aerodynamic frame.
Grip comfort is excellent, offering a solid and secure feel, especially with the full wrist strap that continues to feature Bela’s iconic quote. Overall, the V3 feels extremely well-built and ready to withstand the rigors of regular play.
Performance on the Court
-
Power – 8/10
Although it’s not marketed as Wilson’s most powerful racquet, the Bela V3 packs a serious punch. It delivers explosive smashes when you connect with the sweet spot, and the 3K carbon with Power Foam gives just enough flex for aggressive play without feeling overly stiff. -
Control – 7.5/10
Control is a mixed bag. On the one hand, the “2D Spin” surface texture — a mix of traditional 3D texture and a gritty sandpaper coating — provides excellent bite and spin. However, for precise shot placement, particularly on lobs and drop shots, the lack of a plush, pocketing feel is noticeable. -
Maneuverability – 8/10
Despite the head-heavy balance, the Bela V3 is surprisingly agile. It cuts through the air smoothly and feels lighter than its listed weight (our demo clocked in at 367g). This makes it a solid choice for players who need to react quickly at the net. -
Comfort & Feel – 6/10
This is where the racquet falls short. While it’s not harsh, it feels muted and stiff, offering little in terms of softness or vibration dampening. Players looking for a plush, comfortable feel will likely find the Bela V3 lacking in this department. -
Sweet Spot – 7.5/10
For a power-oriented racquet, the sweet spot is surprisingly generous. However, even when hitting dead center, it lacks the satisfying “pocketing” sensation of more control-focused racquets.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths:
-
Impressive power with controlled aggression
-
Excellent spin potential thanks to textured face
-
Well-built and durable
-
Competitive price for the quality
Weaknesses:
-
Feels stiff and muted; lacks comfort
-
Hard to classify clearly as a power or control racquet
-
Touch shots and finesse can be inconsistent
Comparison with Other Rackets
-
Head Speed One X: The Head offers better feel and maneuverability but falls short on sweet spot forgiveness and spin grip.
-
Adidas Metalbone Team 3.4: Very similar in style, though Adidas uses a diamond shape. The Bela V3 wins in construction quality, while the Adidas is more budget-friendly.
Best suited for:
-
Intermediate to advanced players looking for a racquet that can do a bit of everything without being overly specialized.
-
Ideal for left-sided players who need versatility beyond raw smashes, or right-sided players whose game is based on consistency and spin rather than lob finesse.
Value for Money
Price: $369.95 CAD
Considering the performance, build quality, and brand prestige, the Bela V3 is well-priced in the current market. It offers solid performance across multiple categories and is a smart pick for competitive players who want reliability without splurging on ultra-premium models.
Final Verdict
Rating: 7.4/10
The Wilson Bela V3 is a powerful and spin-friendly padel racquet that’s built like a tank. While it lacks a bit in feel and comfort, it shines in power and spin, with maneuverability that defies its specs. If you're an intermediate or advanced player looking for a versatile racquet that leans slightly toward power, the Bela V3 is a reliable and stylish companion on court.
